I found a Stainless Volvo Penta prop on ebay that will total $220 after shipping.

Is this a good price? Is this a good brand prop? Do I really want a stainless prop? I've heard so many different views on props throghout the years. Someone told me yesterday, that a stainless prop will not flex and therefore it will wear out your lower faster, even if you don't hit anything. Is this true? I navigate in salt water and frequently have to go in areas of low water. Occasionally I hit something hard, but never at faster than an idle speed. I have always ran stainless on OB motors for this reason, but now I have an I/O. To be exact, it's a 2007 Larson 180 Sport with a 3.0 Volvo Penta.

Thoughts?

Re: Stainless Prop

Volvo makes a fine prop. Stainless is the only way to go. I have never had a volvo outdrive but have had many mercruisers all with stainless and they worked better than aluminum.
I do currently run a modified volvo stailess prop on my evinrude. It was the only prop I could get that was double cupped and vented. A little machine shop work and I had a very unique setup.

Re: Stainless Prop

If you keep your boat docked in salt water you may want to stick with aluminum to avoid excess corrosion.
