Re: stainless prop

The thrust washer is needed behind the prop to give it something to push off of while on the shaft when you're under way. Without a picture I'd say you'll need to pick up a hub kit from Michigan Wheel that is designed for your Merc. You'll need to match up spline count and shaft length with the new hub.

Not sure how to upload pics. But new prop has splines already on it and back side is where numbers are stamped.

So how did you come up with the idea that you didn't get a hub with the new prop?

Okaye. You have one. Ensure you have a washer on the prop shaft before putting the prop on and install your locking device and prop nut. Torque to 55 ft-lbs and upon final turning line up 3 of the 6 tabs on the locking device and tap them into the slots on the rear of the prop.

The thrust washer is bronze and a special washer desiged for the prop to be pressed up against it. The inside diameter is sloped as is the prop shaft so when you install it ensure that you have it turned it the direction that allows the slopes to line up.

HTH,
