--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am off to a bad start! 99 250 ox66 had high idle that would not go down, my tech replaced idle sensor on top of starboard head, start engine , same high idle, tech swapped thermos from one side to the other, which corrected problem, tech replaced thermos, next day engine was bogging down and stalling, discovered fuel leak from VST tank, tech replaced VST gasket and cleaned o2 ( which now makes arcing sound), Engine now starts nice with good idle and no fuel leaks, I left dock and after about 10 min. engine started stalling/hard starting. Can it be that fuel pump let go at same time gasket blew out?

Re: Stalling / no fuel

sounds like ya need to replace the tech.
that motor has no idle sensor, it uses the temp sensor to aid in fuel mix at warmup, the O2 sensor may not have been reassembled correctly with the updated parts. your most likly hearing the draw tube rattle as not much in it can arc.
sounds like you need a knowledgable tech to check the entirefuel, ign and cooling system.
your description could cover any of the systems.
the diagnostic lamp would have rapidly found that T-stat and can be verified by placing a hand on the head, the winky blinky would have showed a code 33 and the timing would have been fixed at 7*BTDC.
its an incredibly simple system but all parts MUST be doing what the engineers designed them to do or it does crazy things.
look for the gold sticker on your techs diploma for attendance at yamahas fuel and electrical courses.
for your problem a 5 star rating is worthless.
do you have access to and knowledge of a multi-meter and a fuel rail pressure test guage ?

voltage and pressure, while you at it grab the service manual. then we can get on about the same page.
biggest thing is how long did it sit from when it ran good to when it ran bad.
that motor uses 3 lift pumps that are failure prone. you must be able to maintain 35PSI on the fuel rail at all RPMs but on leaking pump makes it run rich and lousy.
then check the spark plug cap resistance.

Re: Stalling / no fuel

checked fuel pressure today, 38 psi, engine stopped cranking and seemed bound, removed plugs and found gas coming out of #1 cylinder, going to replace injector/s, thanks again
