Stalling

I have a 1988 Larson 4.3 liter mercruiser i/o. It keeps stalling when we try to put it at an idle. Also sometimes it will stall when we're cruising along. Changed the water fuel separator then it ran good for about 6 trips out and it started again so we changed the filter again and it's still stalling. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Without more testing it sounds like the carb needs to be pulled, cleaned, adjusted and reinstalled. Pull the filter and dump the contents into a clear container, then let it sit for an hour or so. Is there anything but clean clear gas?
