Re: stalls when put in reverse
The shift sensor is located on the throttle linkage attached to the carburator. It consists of a microswitch, and if it is not properly aligned with the idle set screw/point on the throttle linkage then yes it will cut the engine off completely upon shifting from F to R. The function of the shift sensor is to do just that. Shut the engine off for just a split second during direction changes to safeguard the entire inboard/ outdrive transmission system. A pass from forward to reverse without an intermittent stall will do damage to essential transmission componentry. Adjustment is simple, just move the sensor on it's slide mount forward or backward to engage the cut-off at exactly the neutral point on the throttle lever at the helm. Gonna take 2 people to set it right. Good luck
