Stalls when switching to reverse

Hi 89 Wellcraft 5.0 Mercruiser Alpha One Gen One Boat was stalling going in reverse end of last year put new shift cable in no matter how I set it same thing any ideas Thanks

Adjust your cable per manual.Check idle.Mke sure when you do your adjustment you start with the shift cable end at the bottom of the slot.

It could be your shift interrupter switch is hanging. Does it die when the boat is on the trailer?
