Stalls when throttle advanced

Johnson 30hp ran normal, next day won't start. No gas in carb, troubleshoot, suspect stuck float. Clean and carb kit installed. Ran great for 15 minutes, started cutting out at advanced speed. Slow speed ok, stalls when throttle advanced. New gas and tank and primer bulb. Advice, fix appreciated.

You didn't change the needle height when you cleaned the carb did you? (the tab on the float which rests on the needle) it sounds like your float is empting out faster then it can fill up, which means either the float level is to low, or for some reason the rest of the fuel system isn't filling it fast enough..<br /><br />so yeah, check your tank ventilation.. was the tank replaced after the problem or before??<br /><br />perhaps you should check the output of you fuel pump..<br /><br />if you get someone to pump the bulb at WOT does it still stall out?<br /><br /><br />rgds<br /><br />Frank

Tank is vented and put in service trying to fix the problem before cleaning the carb. The bulb does feel a little soft to me, not really hard to squeeze. Still stalls when I pump the bulb and give it the gas. <br />Fuel pump appears to deliver plenty of fuel best as I can tell but that is without a load, so that is suspect. I'm going to borrow a tank and bulb that I know works and try that. I'm saving going back into the carb to check my work for LAST.<br />I'm a newbie, sorry I haven't figured out how to respond to each message.<br />Thanks to all,<br />Steve
