Starcraft Mariner V 14 model year...

I have inherited my grandfather's Mariner V 14, which I grew up fishing in, and more than happy to give it some tlc. The reason for this post is that my serial # may indicate it's a 1968. The serial # starts with a 68, then there's a gap, then the rest of the #. Here's the dilemma... My grandpa always said it was a 1966 and my mom said that she remembers it being bought new (not necessarily the year), and the registration says 1966 that was transferred to me. Anybody have experience with this or guidance on how to find it?
