So I just acquired a boat for free. It is a Starfire that appears to be around 18'. The Hull # is SRFC0491M771. Could someone potentially tell me the model and year of this boat. Also what engine was most likely in it and what the max HP is for this vessel. I am wanting to do a full restoration. Any help will be greatly appreciated. photo (26).jpgphoto (27).JPGphoto (28).jpgphoto (29).JPGphoto (30).JPG

Re: Starfire Boat???

I have an old Starfire myself that i'm looking to restore. Figuring out what to do with that OMC Stringer I/O has been a major concern. It seems the consensus is to toss it and put in a Merc or something similar. The real trouble is that giant gaping hole in the transom. A company called SEI makes a conversion kit but it seems it's only for converting the old OMC Cobras and not for the OMC Stringers. So, I think I've resigned to pulling the entire transom and rebuilding it, filling in the fiberglass and recutting the hole for the Merc. If I remember to take pics and document my progress I'll either post it here or on thehulltruth.com.

I'll add some pics of my boat shortly.

Unfortunately it doesn't see that there's much out there on this but but here is a bit of info I ran across on Starfire boats. I have a few posts at the end of that thread. The one thing I have heard is that these boats are very well built and built by hand.

Good luck with your rebuild!
