Motor: 1996, 40hp Johnson "tiller" electric start.

The kill switch, start switch and the electric choke switches were all messed up when I got the motor, so I moved those 3 items to a small side console with 3 separate push button switches. One is for start, one is the kill switch, and other is the electric choke switch. Now I want to consolidate all those 3 switches to the center console I just installed. A friend just gave me a 6 terminal position start, push to choke. See new switch pic. Below, 4 are marked as follows, M, M, A, I, and the other two are marked ? because I can?t read what they are. Where do I take the three wires from the three existing push button switches and transfer them to new ?6? terminal switch when I only have three wires? Thanx.
See new 6 terminal switch below.

Your three push buttons have 5 different wires already correct? Your pushbuttons will have +12VDC, choke wire, starter solenoid wire, ground and killer wire. Those 5 wires will transfer to the ign switch directly. Use an ohmmeter to figure out the other two unmarked connections, so you connect them properly.

Make these connections: Ign switch M and M go to ground and killer wires, A is switched +12DC out to accessories, one of the unmarked terminals is choke, and the other one is either battery or solenoid. To figure out which, test as follows" the battery terminal will connect to the accessory terminal when the key is in the run position, and to the solenoid terminal when the key is in the star position.

That is "when the key is in the start position"

All three push button switches have only one wire in and one wire out.
so they are all open or closed circuits
Start, stop, electric choke.

There will not be any accesories on this switch.

Yes, but those three switches use 5 different wires, as I stated. The +12VDC wire powers both the choke and starter switches, correct? The stop circuit is killed by applying ground they the stop switch.

the centre "?" terminal is your POS common.
What Chris1956 is tryin to sayis that this is not like a car wher everything earths out to ground, so your 3 switches have 6 wires (where he is getting 5 from Im not quite sure) He is trying to tell you that you only need 4 wires now one to th common positve thats the positive that comes from the power supply. one for staring, one for choke, one for kill (or maby two ) the auxilery switch is where you run you runing lights from, so when you engine is stoped you arent running you nav lights accidently.
How many possitions does this switch have? Is it an ignition switch?
you may need to be running thru solinoids if the swictch isnt made for higher currents, or you could be in for risk of fire.
Good Luck

Motor: 1996, 40hp Johnson "tiller" electric start.

I carried my boat to a marine mechanic, he checked out each wire on the 3 existing switches and this is what he drew up on a piece of paper for the new key switch. He said this would work.

The new key switch is a Johnson Outboard key switch that was on a Johnson motor.

It will not have any accessories on this key switch at all, only start, kill, choke.
GPS, depth finder, lights, and bilge all will be on separate fuse terminal block direct from battery with neg-blk and pos-red wires.

Below is the diagram:
The kill switch has 1 wire in and 1 wire out on existing push button switch, so now 1 black wire goes to ?M?, and the other black wire from the push button switch goes to the other ?M? on new key switch.

Choke switch has 1 wire in and 1 wire out, the red wire goes to ?C? on new key switch, and the black wire is dead.

Start switch has I wire in and 1 wire out, 1 red wire goes from start push button switch, goes to ?B? on new key switch, and the black wire going out is dead.

On the old 3 push button switches there were 6 wires total, 1 in and 1 out on each switch, now I will only have 4 wires total.
Kill button had 2 black wires.
Start had 1 red and 1 black wire.
Choke had 1 red wire and 1 black wire.

Thanx for all yalls help, good fishin.
