Start up alarm Help.

We have a new (to us) Glastron MX 175. It is a 2005. Due to the outrageously loud alarm at start up, our kids will not load up, or even come down the dock until the boat has been started. Even the dog has abandon ship when the key is switched on. I know the alarm is important, and will not disconnect it but honestly, it is ridiculously loud. I have read that some people have used electrical tape to cover part of the alarm to quite it down some. I would like to know if anyone else has experience with this problem. Any other ideas out there?
Where is the alarm? Sounds like near the ignition, but neither of us or our ear drums can stand getting under there and turning it on.
Thanks!

May I suggest ear plugs while you search for it.

I have the exact same boat same year and the alarm is loud but lasts less than 2 seconds when starting the engine and really not an issue. However, when on plane and if the alarm starts for any reason (oil pressure, engine temp or riser temp) you can barely hear it with engine noice and radio etc. Do not try to cover it to make it more quiet.

Yes, I stated I know it is important to have. No where can I find out my question. Hence the reason I posted here. Mine is very loud and is on for as long as it takes to start, even while engine is turning over. It startles other boaters launching near us. I swear, I get these looks! I don't know, maybe the previous owner replaced original? This is not a beep or a spurt, but a full on heart stopping, ear piercing blow. Since we do not use a stereo on the water, and we just putter around our small lake, there is no way we wouldn't hear it at half the current decimal points. Maybe there's a volume?

I am just asking if someone knows about the alarm, what it looks like, where it is located, or have had issues with theirs.
Thanks

Mine is under the dash and accessible without taking the gauges off. It is a round part maybe 1.5" wide with two wires connected to it.

Thank you, I really appreciate your time!
I am just going to muff it a little. Funny but I do not notice anyone else's start up alarm. I really think mine is just extra loud.

Re: Start up alarm Help.

I suppose a possible option would be to install a "normally closed" momentary push button switch in series with the buzzer. With that you could push in the button to disable the buzzer (when starting) and as soon as the button was released the buzzer would re-activate.

Great idea! Thanks
