I just got this boat today from my grandparents and i was going to redo the interior and paint the trailer. I am going to start the engine and remember it has not been started in 8 yrs. the last time it was started since that 8 yrs was 4 yrs before that 8 and it fired like a machine.

I am going to change the spark plugs and wondering what else should i do to the engine to help the starting easier since the 8 yrs ago?

The engine is a johnson 65hp 50th anniversary enigne.

Thanks

personally would take the plugs out and squirt some crc,wd40 in to the spark plug holes first and just leave it for a while and then turn it over a few times before putting the plugs back in,also open up the airbox and squirt some engine start down when ready to start it

NEVER use engine starting fluid on a 2 stroke, fast way to destroy one. use some of the premixed gas, and spray into carbs.

Today i started the engine and i did not replace the spark plugs or put wd40 in the cylinder. I turned the key once and it just started like a machine. I wished i had a video to show. It was quite exciting.
