Starter and flywheel problems

Hello

I have 25 ft Chrissy.

I re powered with chevy 350 4 bolt main it has a velvet drive trans.

168 tooth 14" flywheel with a 2 bolt staggered bolt pattern.

I have bought 4 starters now and none of them will fit.

This bell housing has a mount on top and the one under engine.

I want to use the top mounting whole but bindex drive will not reach flywheel.The bottom
mounting the housing over the bindex drive is to big and will not go in so you can put the bolts in.

At this point I don't care which one as long as it works.

I need any help I can get or it's time to give up and stop throwing money in the whole.

2 things, you need a flywheel ring gear set up for "aft entry " Most inboards have it, inboard/outboard motors do not.
Also need a reversed rotation starter for a standard rotation engine and a standard rotation starter for a reversed rotation engine when using the aft entry setup.

Ayuh,.... If ya wanta use an aft starter,...

Ya gotta pull the flywheel, 'n knock the ring gear off it,...

Then remount it on the Other/ Aft side of the flywheel...

I removed flywheel you cannot move ring gear to other side as suggested. The flywheel would have to machined to big.

Is there a special flywheel for top mount starters . (chevy 350 4 bolt main 2 piece rear main seal
14 " flywheel 168 tooth.

not so much special but must come from a inboard motor and you must pay attention to engine rotation and starter rotation

No reason to keep startin' threads 'bout the same problem...
