We have an 18' glastron with 4.3 volvo. Looking for a new starter battery. I purchased an interstate SRM-24 to operate our audio equipment. I am wondering if that same battery will work to start the boat. My manual says I only need 360 CCA. The interstate battery is rated at 550 CCA. Thoughts?

Re: Starter Battery

Can't hurt to try it. I use a 27 series deep cycle to start my motor but it's only a 50 horse outboard. It turns over quickly. Hope this helps.

Re: Starter Battery

As long as you go at elast sa big as reccomended you are fine, bigger is better with batteries.

The boat sees 12 volts, it dosen't know or care how big it is.

Re: Starter Battery

lol your thinking of this the wrong way. your house has 200amp supply if you turn on a light it only uses 1 amp even though it has 200 avaliable it only uses what it needs. not having enoght cca is a problem as the voltage will drop and thats bad for the starter so having to much is always a good thing. any battery with more than 360cca will work well for you so buy the battery and go have fun
