Re: starter clicking

starter assist (slave) solenoid, seperate from starter. cable/wire connections loose, broken, corroded. not enough amperage from battery to crank motor

Re: starter clicking

Clicking or chatter usually denotes low voltage to the accessory in question.

A solid, abrupt C L U N K usually denotes a locked up engine or drive

Agree with maxxmanand popeye, get a bronze or stainless toothbrush and clean all your terminal ends to starter and the ground area if it's grounded to the motor through the mounting bolts. (Maybe painted) And it never hurts to refresh the battery connections It could be the starter, won't be the first time that's happened.

Re: starter clicking

use a pair of jumper cables right to the starter and a good ground

Remove on cable at a time to see which one needs a fix
