Can anyone tell me what the part number is for the drive gear on a Merc 50-72467 starter. It is on a 1150 serial number 4700843. Also is this a 1977 motor?
Thanks

I as far as I know the starter is a complete unit that includes the gear (there are various Nrs. of teeth) unless you go to a starter rebuilder that has one?

I have found them online but I don't know what the part # is for my particular starter and I don't know where I can find a parts breakdown. Thanks though for your thoughts.

Great help!! That was exactly what I needed. Would you happen to know the year of the motor, 1150 mod #4700843?

If Mariner uses the same serial number scheme as Merc, it's a 1977 or 1978. Look on your starter if it's original, for a manufacturing date stamp.
