I recently changed my starter out on a 2005, 4.3 mercruiser. I keep blowing the 90 amp fuse when I try starting it. I’ve checked for a short in the wires but haven’t found anything. Any ideas what would cause this

Starter windings are generally not fused, as they can take 150Amps or so. The solenoid primary winding is fused, but takes 10amps or less.

So either you wired the starter thru the fuse, or you have wired the solenoid incorrectly, say a dead short when you turn the key.
