starter keeps turning occasionally 72 65hp

Once in a while when i turn my ignition key, after I let go of the key my starter keeps turning. The is a new problem that my old motor did not have so I don't think the ignition or control is the problem but who knows. It appears to be something with the new 72 65 hp motor. Any ideas?

It is either the ignition switch or more likely the starter solenoid sticking.

Yep....what Bill said. Next time it stays running, smack the starter solenoid. If the starter stops spinning.....solenoid is sticking.
