So i took my starter motor apart and found it is completely rusted on the inside. wires were rusted away. everything in the bottom of the starter is rusted away so pretty much its done for. i am looking at buying a new one but having a hard time finding one. my motor is the 35514 1958 evinrude lark 35 hp and i found a starter for a 1959 sea horse 35 hp. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if that one would work on my motor. i know a good bit of the parts for many of those motors around those years were interchangeable. these starters look almost exactly alike other than the bottom cap being just a bit different. my starter has mgd-4007 12v written on it. first 2 pics are their starter and last pic is my starter.

The starter in the 3rd picture would have been off a much newer motor.-----A 1969 and newer 3 cylinder 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 HP or a 1971 to 2005 model 2 cylinder 50 HP.-----I have never seen or knew it could fit on a 35 HP like yours.------The starter for your 35 was used on the 28 / 33 / 40 hp motors from 1960 to 1976.-----There are lots of good used ones around !!

Look for a private message.----You need a starter from a 1965 to 1970 model 33 HP or 1965 to 1976 model 40 HP .----And sorry ---sometimes the sellers will always tell you everything fits !
