Starter Not Engaging

obviously new here. I thought I'd awaken an ancient thread today.

I too have the same issues as mentioned above. My problems occurred while I was on the lake the other day. The engine had no problem starting at all throughout the day, until it was time to go home. Starter turned, but wouldn't raise the gear to engage the engine. Why would it work all day, and then stop all together. I had a new solenoid installed and new battery cables installed last winter.

How about some info about your motor? And try some light oil on the shaft under the gear.
