starter problem

i have a 2004 volvo penta 3.0 . last week i found a broken bolt in the starter . so i went and fixed that . today while on the lake it ran perfect but while i was stopped for a while and planing to go home so i went to start it ,it started and when i went to stop it it just keep running,i shut the main power to stop it, the starter got really hot and wouldn't turn the motor over at all after,just could hear a clicking noise. do you think its the starter gone or do i have a ignition problem.

Possible the ignition switch is sticking??
Possible the solenoid is sticking?
If the starter ran for a while it's possible it's burned up?
Get a test light and start testing.

The solenoid just clicking, could be the starter or it's a bad solenoid.
Again test light.
