Does anyone know if there are rebuild kits for OMC outboard starters in existence (bearings, brushes, etc)? OB is a 79 Johnson 150 V6, starter is an American Bosch. Thanks.
There is not an overhaul kit, but the brush kit and any other needed parts can be ordered from a Johnson/Evinrude dealer.<br /><br />Many Starter and alternator repair shops service small motor starters and have the common parts, also.
Hydrasport,<br /><br />Starters are very generic., Most share a pretty small universe of bushings, bearings, brushes, etc. Any good rebuild shop should be able to fix you up for a fraction of the cost of a new one.
