hello y'all Question I got a 78 ford 351 omc. I noticed that it has 2 starter selnoids. 1 on top if engine that connects positive battery cable then runs down to the other starter selnoid attached to the starter. could I by pass the starter selnoid thats sits on top of the engine? and run power cable directly to thw main starter selnoid attached to the starter???

Ayuh,.... If ya do that, the keyswitch carries the amperage, 'n it Don't like it,....

Cleanin' All the wirin' end connections to Shiny metal Clean fixes most startin' issues,....
Greasin' 'em after, keeps 'em that way,....

Separate starter relay, not embedded in the starter. Good design to keep relay from soaking up heat. Also can be a meatier unit when separate, not limited by having to fit in with the starter itself. In the Auto world Chrysler and Ford back in the day anyways had the relay separate from the starter, nothing wrong with that, and has advantages. I like to rely on the engineering from the manufacturer, keeps me from falling out of the pan into the fire so to speak.
