I have a 1986 90 hp Mercury. It doesn't do anything when I try to start it from the controls. When I put power directly to the starter, it cranked fine. When I arched the posts of the starter solenoid, the starter turned but didn't rise up to crank the motor. What is my problem? and yes, the battery has power. Thanks in advance for any help.
