Starter/Solenoid question..

I have a 2000 Caravelle 188 BR.

After recently replacing the starter/solenoid on the engine, my power trim has stopped working. Do any of the small wires that attach to the starter/solenoid have anything to do with the trim? Or is this just a coincidence, and I should look into replacing my trim switch??

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Re: Starter/Solenoid question..

do you get anything when you hit the trim switch? noises, etc?

on my boat, the big red wire that goes into the trim motor is connected to my starter.

Yes... The trim motor located at the rear of the boat "clicks." This makes me think its a loose/dirty connection. Any thoughts?

Re: Starter/Solenoid question..

I'd try cleaning the connections first. If that doesn't work, try jumping the selenoid...if that makes the trim move, it's the selenoid.

Re: Starter/Solenoid question..

The solenoid will click, but if its not getting power because the large red wire usually connected to the starter is off, it won't work.
