Starter support bracket question

Picked up a new starter and just noticed it doesn't have the bolt sticking up out of the starter that the nut threads into to hold it onto the support bracket. Is this bracket needed or will it be fine without it? It's on the right side of the s terminal

Is it a marine starter? If so it should have a bolt.
It is needed on the 3.0 and I'm guessing the 2.5 as well.

is the new starter a PMGR (half the size of the old direct-drive starter shown) if so, the bracket is not needed

if the starter is a direct drive model, the bracket is needed.
