Starter swtich not working-OMC 3 LT

Hello Guys
I have 17foot Doral boat.It is OMC 3 liter.Boat was running fine last year before winter.Today i tried to get it ready for summer.Every thing is fine .Tilt/Trim working.but starter swtich is not working.when i crank nothing happens.I tried manually cracking starter using screwdriver and it is working.it is cranking the engine.I checked all fuses i can see .They are all ok.Can some1 tell me what could be the problem.Thank you

Have you pulled the ignition switch? Checked for voltage on red wire?

I been in there bunches of times and on my very first visit too.. I guess I was thinking there may be hot naked chicks in boats..Dirty mind...

I guess some people don't see it

Hello Guys
I followed the guide to test with test light.it is coming ok.
i manually started the engine by using screwdriver on starter.it starts fine.
i am able to turn off the engine with ignition switch but cannot start it.when engine is running and i try to crack again from ignition switch the engine shuts off.not sure what problem is.can some1 help me.thank you

guys i want to mention 1 thing.
i installed battery cable first time wrong.later i fixed.do u think this may have caused problem with ignition switch.let me know.thx

Did you have power on the B terminal of the ignition switch as mentioned in the How To?

Problem Solved
I finally got ignition switch working.There was no power coming to the switch.My buddy found out after he did tests.What he did is got piece of wire and connected directly from battery to switch and it started working.
1 question. do we need to install inline fuse between there new wire i have .pls let me know.thx

Bet there is a fused wire under there that is hot and goes to your switch.. Look to see if you find a loose wire under there..
If you wanta run a hot wire.. Yes hook up a fuse..

You probably have a fuse in the system somewhere, you need to find it, not rewire things just to cover up the real problem.
You haven't given any information as to year, or type of drive, so it's impossible to give you any specific advise as to where to look for a fuse or even if it has one.

I would think..The wiring with be kinda boat specific once under the dash..

Yes all wiring is under dash.

You probably have a fuse in the system somewhere, you need to find it, not rewire things just to cover up the real problem.
You haven't given any information as to year, or type of drive, so it's impossible to give you any specific advise as to where to look for a fuse or even if it has one.

There is fuse on big red power cable going to ignition switch.But that fuse looks Ok.There was some rust inside but i cleaned it.It is still not working.
Any idea how to fix it.Thank You

Have you tested the wire for power? Get a test light.. It's a must have tool for the boatman
