Being the stupid person I am, I removed the starter to get to the fuel lines to the carbs on my '72 65hp Merc. Problem is, when I went to put it back together...I forgot where one of the wires goes. I have the Clymer manual, and it LOOKS like it would connect to the "Cowl Frame" from the starter, which I don't even know what the cowl frame is, but I'm assuming it is just a bolt somewhere on the motor frame.

Anyway, it is connected to the top bolt on the starter, but where does it go from there? To the frame somewhere? Thanks AGAIN!

Re: Starter wiring

If its connected to a case bolt (ones that just hold the starter together) then yeah its just a ground that connects to the something metal inside there. And if its connected to the insulated stud on the starter then that the hot wire that should come from your solenoid. Wish I could be of more help on where to put the ground wire but I'm not to familar with that exact motor. I just have alot of experiance with starting and charging systems in general.
