I have a 1989 125hp Force when I crank it over its very slow like the battery is dead. I bought a deep cycle battery and a regular marine battery, they are not new but I did take them to the auto store and had them checked. They told me the batteries were good and just needed a charge. My problem is when I put them back in the boat and turn the boat it seems fine for a few cranks then back to slow/week crank. Am I missing soemthing here? Could I need a new starter? I did replace the Solenoid and new battery wires. anyone help....

Re: Starter

I'm not familar with your motor but I had similar problem with mine a couple years ago. Have you or can you take the starter apart to clean the contacts and maybe replace the brushes.

Re: Starter

Possible the starter is dragging. OR the connections are loose.
Possible low compression on 1 or more cylinders. Remove the plugs and do a compression test.
