I have 50 HP force I am working on. Motor hasn't run in years (at least 5). I found out the cutout switch was locked shut and I disabled it at the cutout switch (removed wires). It was missing the starter completely. Got a new starter and it cranks good now. I found the linkage a challenge to piece back together. Inspection of the carb found no gas in bowl and quite a gummy mess. I was searching for rebuilt or carb kits to get idea of cost. can't find a sight that list carbs for 50 hp Force? I guess I need to check gas pump and look for spark next?

Re: Starting 50 hp force

Thanks for the links. 1988 50 hp Force model 507X8D 1969. I got a manuel(Clymer). Specific linkage questions. In neutral start, the throttle cam does not touch the roller on the carb? seems like I have to engage it and move the throttle quite a ways until it contacts the roller. I adjusted the first contact point. Secondly, the adjuster on the throttle rod for neutral warm up. I don't see how moving it that far has any change except for timing maybe. The throttle cable has no movement until it is moved out of neutral. All this stuff was in pieces when I got it. The cables were connected to the remote control (assuming they are right), but not to the engine.

Re: Starting 50 hp force

On my chrysler the clymor says to adjust the excentric so it is barely kissing the nylon roller for the throttle shaft. Mine is like you are saying. Not sure how it works but when on the lake at lowest idle position motor spins good and if I increase throttle while in neutral rpms will increase even though throttle shutter is not opening
