Morning Everyone:

I got a bit of a problem. I'm trying to get one of the boats started before taking it on a trip. The problem is - I can't. I don't know if I don't have the right starting procedure, or what. I try to turn the key and it will try and try, but it won't fire. The starting instructions are posted on the control unit and they are reprinted here verbatim:

"To start 60 ahd 75hp models, depress throttle-only button and position handle forward to first detent position and then move handle forward approximately one inch. Push key to engage choke and turn to start."

Question:
1. What is the first detent position? I tried this and was able to push the handle forward about 1 to 2 cm - but no more. I am not able to push it any further without pushing the button on top of the throttle handle, which is essentially the speed control. When I do this - of course - it doesn't even turn over (it seems like it shouldn't be able to).

Here's a little more info:
The guy we bought the boat from told us that the idle screw is turned down and that we had to turn it back up before taking it out this year. Could this be our problem?

I know they say ignorance is bliss, but what I'm feeling now is NOT that!

Any help on this is greatly needed and even more appreciated. Have a great weekend y'all.
