I have a 1967 Johnson 33hp motor with electric start. It's been sitting for a number of years (I believe about 5 years). When I stored it back then I winterized it. The motor is not stuck.
So I was trying to get things started again. When I hooked it up to the battery and pushed the start button, the starter motor doesn't seem to have enough juice to turn the flywheel. When I took the spark plugs out because there is no compression, the starter motor was able to turn the flywheel.
Is the starter motor weak and need replacing? The battery is new and fully charged. I've also tried to start by bypassing the solenoid (with the plugs in) and it still didn't turn the flywheel.
