I have a 1984 Mariner 30 HP outboard motor which I have taken off of my pontoon boat for some repairs (water pump replacement). It has an electric starter for starting while its on the boat. It also has a pull cord for starting. My question is is there anything I need to do to the wiring harness that goes to the boat to bypass the key switch and allow me to use the pull cord to start the motor in a bucket of water. I know the kill switch wiring goes to the harness and is an open circuit when the harness is unplugged. The reason I am asking is because the motor is with me at home and the boat is at the cottage. The boat is a Misty Harbour, 1998 pontoon boat if that is of any relavance. Any response would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
