Having problems starting my outboard. I recently replaced the brushes on my starter motor which curred the lag i was experiencing but now i can't start it. I have checked that there is power to the plugs which are sparking, so must be fuel related, i had the carbs flushed 2 weeks ago after i ran out of petrol but since then it won't start. I can smell petrol but that's it. Does anybody have any ideas??
Also one thing i noticed was that, then turing over the engine that one of the wires under the starter motor was starting to smoke. It was red and then ran to the bottom of what looks like 2 switches positioned on the frame. I assume this was because i was tring to start it for a few minutes, is it something to worry about or should i replace something.

Any help is appreciated.
