Starting Query

Hi, I have a Volvo 3.0 SX glp-c 2005 stern drive. When starting cold I normally pump the throttle twice, it starts first time every time. The problem is that the engine needs a few minutes to get warm before you can take back to neutral to put into gear. If you try to soon, the engine stalls, if you let it get warm there is no problem.

Is this expected, or should you be able to start and go straight away when cold. If not expected would it likely be a choke issue?

I am a novice, so be gentle.

Thanks

Andrew

Re: Starting Query

Never drove a carbureted car did you? Any carbureted engine should be allowed to warm up a bit before blasting off. However you might want to check choke operation as it may be set a little loose or may be stuck open.
