Starting/Running Problems for 1987 150hp Yamaha outboard !

Had no spark last September 2009. Mechanic replaced: Stator, timer base, fuel pump, & regulator. Boat stayed in water all winter & motor was never winterized. Motor was started in Spring 2010 & ran rough. Made 2 trips this whole season & now motor starts, but runs really rough, & then shuts off. Recently I tried starting it by removing the air cowling & spraying carb cleaner into all 6 carbs. It starts up, revs high , sputters, & then shuts off.

Sounds like lack of maintenance caused the carbs to gum up. Should have been using Stabil Ethanol treatment or Startron. Carbs should come off and be cleaned and rebuilt and synched. Also replace any fuel filters at the same time.
