I've got a problem!! I have an '89 omc 5.7l cobra I am in the process of putting a pertronics billet electronic distributor on. I spoke to clark at CDI ELECTRONICS and he told me I could leave the stock coil but I needed to do away with my resistor wire. I looked in my factory omc service manual at the engine cable wiring diagram, I went back to where the resister wire splices in near the altinator wire #49 in the diagram. My problem now is that my radio work now until I turn the key on( radio is on a factory toggle switch) then it quits it doesn't go off it will just sound like you have a frequency interference as soon as you turn the key off radio starts working fine. The engine starts and runs fine just as it did before I did anything but the radio is acting crazy. I spliced into wire #39 the purple one and I have 12v with the key on. I have not changer the distributor yet it should be here tomorrow an I was planning on installing it then. Is this problem possibably just because I am putting 12v on a set of points? The wire I ran to the coil was 14 gauge( don't know if that matters just trying to let everyone know all the details. I forget to say I put the new CDI shift assist on today also part# 123-9898-p.
thanks for any input that y'all can offer!!
