I had my 1987 Startracker 24' Pontoon out both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. On Saturday it ran great, but about 2 miles into my ride Sunday is shorted out when I accelerated to a higher speed. We were able to fire it back up and went for a solid while until it shorted out again at lower speed. We ended up docking it at an abandoned property and were able to get it to fire up. The engine would turn over but not fully start. I purchased a new battery and had it going for a minute with the accelerator on high, but as I brought it down it shut down again. My next thought is the wiring, but it is concerning due to the change in speed that its shutting down. The motor itself sounded strong when started with the acceleration going. Please help, the motor is a 90hp outboard Johnson.
