State fees for towing an oversize boat (10ft beam)

I have been finding out that each state requires a oversize load fee to move a boat with a 10ft beam or larger.

How much are these fees...on average?

I know they must vary state to state but,for example, does anybody know what New York charges?

I have heard 2 claim it's around $300 a pop..is that possible? To move a boat one time through the state?

sounds like a line of BS to me...I mean it wouldn't surprise me if it was true for New York but for every state?

Anybody know roughly the fee is for the permit or know how to find out?

Been a while since I bought any permits but IIRC about $80 or so for most states for a one way move...

I won't recommend it but I have moved 3 10-11' wide boats from the north east coast to Louisville without any permits and have had no issues.... That's no guarantee that I wouldn't get popped next time but a 10' wide boat on a trailer behind a dually on the interstate doesn't stick out bad.

There are permitting agencies that will get all of your permits for you and help you with routing for an additional charge.

ALSO permits are only required on state roads.... County roads are FREE.

I hired a guy to move it but 2 guys with these astronomically high bids claim it's $300 for New York...I think it's for a year permit myself. Not a one way tow

regardless, I got a great deal on the boat so the moving charge is basically a wash

I don't know about new York, the last time I moved a boat from Ohio through Indiana to Illinois the total for three states was $320 and the tow vehicle had to have current inspection certification as well.
