Hi All! We have a 1972 Evinrude 65hp motor. The problem we were having with it was that under a load it wouldn't go, we think we have that problem fixed. The other problem is that something is draining the battery. We're not sure what that is and we took it to a guy who works on boats and he got to looking at it and said that the stater was bad, so he replaced that. That didn't fix the problem, and he looked further into it and said that the rectifier had a short in it? Does that sound right? We are new to having a boat and don't want to end up spending a lot of money on fixing this old boat. He said the new rectifier would cost around $190. If any has any other suggestions, or comments, we would greatly appreciate them. Thanks!
