I have recently pulled the Stator assembly off

looking towards the inner ring of magnets I found a chipped edge

(Picture attatched)

will this affect performance or will it be okay.

What motor ?----And are you sure that is a magnet ?----What is your motor doing / not doing that leads you to this inspection ?

1983 Johnson 50hp 2 stroke. (50TelCTA)
----
after chasing down multiple issues,
-----
i went from removal and inspection of valves and head and carbs new gaskets for each, to replacement of all coils, spark plugs and the power pack and Rectifyer.
--
To
--
All new wires, except harness to the motor from controller. Which is a brand new BRP 2020 Exact match with correct everything
--
Then
--
New fuel tank primer bulb and lines, connectors, fuel pump and lines from pump to carbs and new lines from Choke solenoid.
--
Including full disassembly of fuel tank for new gasket and pickup tube filter and flow check, as well as check valve to the fuel tank.
--
also including blowing free every passage way in the block of the motor for any obstructions
--
all in working order.
--
last thing it can be is the stator, so I pulled the flywheel today and this is what I found, there was also 1 wire the Yellow/Grey that had worn a spot in the shielding about 1/4" from the base of the stator, I removed the connectors from the other side and slid new Heat wrap sleeves down the wires individually all the way to the base (Makeshift Shielding that turned out really nice)
--
I have no clue if it really is a magnet, from what iv read and talk to from a few outboard mechanics they said the stators do this after years of heat ect, they just crack away but it shouldn't be a big deal.

But it's always nice to bring whatever I find to Iboats forums cause y'all save me from myself sometimes lol.
--

main issue was irratic idle (a sneeze), trouble restarting once warm, issues getting past half throttle once warm.

The magnets in the flywheel are quite strong and clean with no scuffs or damage, was happy to see that.

I will have to get some numbers for it, my compression test was just initially seeing if I could keep it plugged with my thumb, and it blew my thumb out of the plug holes on both cylinders with ease.
