I have a previous post which Joe Reeves kindly answered, but have some additional questions. <br />If my rectifier was the cause of the stator burning out, about how long would it take for that to <br />happen? I can't think of a time that the battery was ever hooked up backward or of a wiring <br />problem that would cause this to happen. But, I did install a new cigeratte lighter type plug <br />in the boat right before the stator burnt out. Could that have cause the rectifier to go out <br />somehow?<br /><br />Is there a test I can perform on the rectifier without the engine running that would tell me if <br />it is bad or not? This is the 9 amp water cooled type rectifier.<br /><br />Thanks, Steve Smith
