Re: stator or trigger switch

Clean and rebuild the carb. A partially blocked carb will reduce the lubrication and can Seize the motor. Remove and strip the carb and soak inGunk carb and parts cleaner for a half hour or more if needed. Carefully clear the small drillings and jets with thin steel wire. Flush out with carb cleaner. Do not get carb cleaner on plastic parts. Rebuild with a new Kit. Always use Stabil Marine to help prevent fuel and carb problems.
You should be good to go.

You need to test the fuel system to see if you have air sucking into the line at any point before the fuel pump.

Substitute a clear hose for a fuel hose between the fuel pump and carb, run the motor and watch for air bubbles passing thru, proving air leaking in.

Check every inch of hose for cracking, poor sealing at every fitting.

The quick disconnect fittings have been known for the O-ring sealing when pressurized by the primer bulb yet fail to seal once the fuel pump sucks on it.

REMEMBER to remove that clear hose once finished with your testing, it is not approved for fuel use, only very short term testing.
