My 18 hp 1973 evinrude has been dang near rebuilt, due to parts changing for no reason! I narrowed it down I think. Missis bad but not rytmatically, but erratically. As I have stated in another post, I've changed everything in the ignition system, and replaced and or checked everything in the fuel system. I think it is a stator plate problem. Is the stator plate supposed to control the timing? Is it supposed to return to a home position when at idle? The timing has to be synced to the throttle, correct? How do I check it? Help, please, before I finish this forced rebuild.
Does the magnetic field keep the stator pulled to the counter clockwise? Where should it be for the static timing with the test light? Am I talking to myself, Oh my god I think I am!
