Hi there,

Can anyone tell me how to test a stator using a multimeter. (I understand that a DVA check is the prefered method) Also how would I check the switch boxes?
The items are fitted to a 135 HP V6 Mercury running a 40 AMP stator & regulator.
Thanks

Re: Stator & switchbox test

Do the stator meter readings like the book says, hopefully you have a book. You need to use an analog meter rather than a digital as some readings do not come out right on a digital meter.I tested the stator on an 85 merc 115hp inline 6 per the book and they were off(per the book.Got a new stator and the readings were right where they were supposed to be.Don't know of any tests for the switchbox we can do except maybe doing a swap to see if your problems changes.Merc tech probably has test equipment for switchbox.
