I recently bought a repair maual for a 72 mercury 3 cylinder motor, and it does not show anything about testing the stator.Does anyone know if the 3 cylinder 650 merc even has one.Any information would be much appreciated.
hi mattbe,can we find a serial #fir that eng.,is it a 650ss ? a little more info would help.But if you have a rectifier there will be a stator under the flywheel w/2 yellow leads going to the rectifier.? why are you looking for the stator?
If you're refering to an ignition stator, then no, they don't have one. These have a distributor, fired by a power pack (switch box) and an alternator winding under the flywheel to charge the battery.<br /><br />Chris...........
