stator

1977 70hp evinrude, after reading alot of post about stators dripping resin down on engine block, I checked mine and it also has been dripping. It looks like its been there a while, dried hard, but was wondering is this always a bad sign. I'm getting good spark on all cylinders, but is this near the end for the stator?

It can't be good, when you drive an old car and it brakes down you can walk to the next tele. With our old boats, well I think I'd replace it!<br />Richard
