I have a 1996 evinrude 135hp that recieved a new water pump last year. I recently was running the boat and noticed the H2O pressure guage above 30psi(this is offscale) when the RPM was above 4000. After about 5min the steady "hot" horn went off. Water was discharging from the engine.

The dealer seems to not know what to do. Anyone have some suggestions as to what may be the problem?

Any chance a chunk of your old water pump has a water passage stopped up?

c/6

Hooty

Does your motor have a split-line gearcase?? If it does AND if the water pump for a non-split-line gearcase were installed, you could have excessive water pressure and the possibility for an overheat issue is quite high.

What is the model number of the motor and what part number water pump was installed??

-John
