Steel tip needles?

Mates, just a quick one here. I sent away for Quicksilver WME carb rebuild kits. (Merc 60 hp OB) The needle I received is solid steel...no orange rubber tip as I was expecting. The obvious question from a guy who has not seen these before...does that steel tip provide the same seal down in the seat as the rubber ones? Thanks!

I think if you look in the seat you will find a viton seat

Wow, you're right. It sure looks like solid stainless from end to end...but once I took it out of it's packaging, the tip has flex to it. Thanks.
