I recently exchange engines on my boat, from a '73 85hp Evinrude to a '72 125hp Johnson. While the Evinrude engine had a tube the the Steering cable went into, the Johson doesn't. Is there a part that I can get that will allow me to use the same steering cable for the 125hp engine, or do I have to buy a new cable? IF there is a part, does anyone know of a web site where I can get it fairly reasonable?

Hi Magic.

I have the same 125 Johnson. You need something called a clamp block kit. It's an apparatus that bolts onto your transom and grips the steering cable. There's also hardware that's part of the kit that attaches the steering cable to the motor. I know of no cheap for this part new -- it's over $100 as I recall. Try boatfix.com. Their prices are pretty good.
